We have a proven network of terrestrial wireless broadband repeater sites that allow us to reach farms and rural homes with a time proven reliable broadband service, delivering speeds previously unseen in the rural sector. We install a small communications dish at your property at a location with a clear line of sight to one of our hilltop repeater sites, this is then cabled into your house at a location of your choosing.

If traditional copper infrastructure is unavailable, degraded or simply not desirable then our wireless broadband solution is for you.

Keep your phone line on copper or come over to VoIP – the choice is yours.

Terrestrial Wireless Broadband services are available through-out the greater Canterbury region.

Increase Your Monthly Data

You can increase your monthly plan’s data allocation for $10.00 /month per 25 GB.

Any monthly data change is for a minimum 2 month period.
You can increase your monthly data size by as many data increments as required.

Automated Data Block

If you exceed your monthly plan’s data allocation during any month and decide not to increase your monthly data size, you will incur automated data blocks at $15.00 per 25 GB on a per event basis.

Required Equipment

To connect to the Scorch network, you need a Scorch Radio which is supplied to you by Scorch. This equipment remains the property of Scorch.

Installation Cost

This covers the installation of a radio (and dish with wall mount bracket if necessary) and the cabling from the radio (up to 20m cable run included) to your computer or router inside: $199.00 plus travel from your region’s base

Contract Term

Next Gen Plans are on a minimum 24 month contract.

Gen 1 Plans are on a minimum 12 month contract.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

24 Month Contract Disconnection Fee

The following disconnection fees apply for all Terrestrial Wireless Next Gen Plans on a minimum 24 month contract term.

If you have been connected for:

  • Less than 6 months – $399.00
  • Between 7-12 months – $299.00
  • Between 13-24 months – $199.00
  • Greater than 24 months (requiring engineer onsite to uninstall) – $100.00
  • Greater than 24 months (customer to uninstall and return to Scorch within 14 days) – $25.00

 

If you are disconnecting within any contract period, but the connection is being taken-over by a new owner or tenant then please have a chat to us as the contract can possibly be transferred!

12 Month Contract Disconnection Fee

The following disconnection fees apply for all Terrestrial Wireless Gen 1 Plans on a minimum 12 month contract term.

If you have been connected for:

  • Less than 12 months – $199.00
  • Greater than 12 months (requiring engineer onsite to uninstall) – $100.00
  • Greater than 12 months (customer to uninstall and return to Scorch within 14 days) – $25.00

 

If you are disconnecting within any contract period, but the connection is being taken-over by a new owner or tenant then please have a chat to us as the contract can possibly be transferred!

Farm / Dairy Worker Contract Options

We understand many Farm and Dairy Workers maybe on 12 month contracts themselves. We are happy to discuss your options and work with you to come up with solution that is suitable to all parties.

Line of Sight

In clear conditions you must have a clear, unobstructed view of our repeater site from the position on your house or property that the radio is installed. If there are buildings or trees in the way we will have trouble installing and may need to try other options. Alternatives are setting up relay stations or laying cable for short distances outside to remote poles or buildings. We usually find a way but there may be additional costs.
Please note that Scorch is not responsible for maintaining your line of sight.

Shifting Address

If you are shifting to an address that is still within the Scorch network coverage, we can relocate your connection / Scorch radio to your new location. Relocation costs will apply. If there is no coverage a disconnection fee may apply as per your contract terms.

 

What happens if I exceed my data cap?

You will be notified by email when you reach 80% and 100% of your data cap. Once you reach 100% you will begin incurring over usage charges.

You will be provided with login details to check your usage on our “MY USAGE” portal. Please note it is solely your responsibility to keep track of your usage.

Changing Plan

You can change your speed, data, email, etc within any plan set at any time during your contract term. Please note any plan change is for minimum one month period.

Just contact us to discuss your options and we can arrange it for you.

Static IP Address

Yes, you can request a Static IP address on your Scorch Terrestrial Wireless connection.
The additional cost is $10.00 /month.

VPN Access

Can I use VPN over the Scorch network? Most definitely YES!

If you are having any issues getting VPN to function over your Scorch connection please give the helpdesk call as we may be able to provide assistance.

Online Console Gaming

If you experience problems using Xbox Live or PlayStation Network features, please contact the Scorch helpdesk for assistance.
There may be specific configuration requirements for the console and your connection to allow these features to work seamlessly.
